Outdoor Kitchens
We in Alabama are experiencing the last of what we call “Winter,” and are expectantly awaiting on Spring to arrive. I put quotes around “Winter” because for our friends up north who just received 3 feet of snow, this is shorts weather down here. Either way, Spring is just around the corner!
Especially after researching for this post and looking through pictures of outdoor kitchens, I am excited for the warm weather to return. This post has me (and will probably have you) dreaming of the soon-to-come days of grilling out, eating dinner on the porch, watching lightening bugs flicker through the dim evening light… Why must it be cold and rainy? Oh, yeah, because it’s still “Winter.”
Outdoor kitchens are becoming popular and rightfully so. Couldn’t you just imagine yourself grilling out on that grill on a Saturday afternoon with friends or family while the sun sets slowly behind you? This kitchen has everything you need so you won’t miss any of the action outside—grill with side burner, warming tray, cabinets to keep your utensils handy, mini-fridge for your cold foods, and a sink.
This kitchen is more enclosed with proper ventilation and fans for the warmer summer days down here in the South. And, look at that fireplace! That would be very cozy during this time of year while you wait for the warmer months.
An open patio kitchen is perfect for the hot summer months near Atlanta, GA. Even though, there is no roof for shade, the dense wooded area keeps the temperatures down. This outdoor kitchen is intriguing because of the stainless steel furniture and granite countertops used with the Brazilian Cherry cabinets and deck flooring. The entire setup gives off a Bohemian, Rustic, Southern charm.
If you could design an outdoor kitchen, what elements would you use? Would you use a covered porch or open patio? Would you go with an all stone set up or pair wood cabinets with stone walls?
